Getting Married in Fiji

Marriage under Fijian law involves two parts:

The first part is the registration of the intent to marry with the Registry office in Nadi. The office is open from 9:00 am-3:00 pm Monday through Friday, and the meeting will take between 15-30 minutes. We try to organize an appointment for the bride and groom in the Nadi Registry office on the first or second day of arrival in Fiji. This will allow for the completion of the Fijian Registry requirements before coming to the Island for the marriage service. It is important to note the bride and groom will need an original or certified copy of their respective birth certificates, their passports and if previously divorced, a copy of their divorce papers

The second part is a religious ceremony to be held on Castaway Island. Usually the ceremony takes place at sunset on our jetty adjacent to the dining terrace. A minister would be available prior to the wedding to discuss the wording used in the ceremony. The services included in the cost are as follows:

*Limousine transfers and escort to the Registry office *Donation given to the Minister *Use of traditional Fijian wedding attire for the bride and groom and two witnesses *Wedding decorations / salusalu (lei) / flowers / bouquet / boutonniere *Boat transfers for the Minister to and from the village *Music by the Castaway Islanders and the Castaway Island Family choir *Castaway Island video memento of the wedding ceremony *Champagne cruise around the Island,Castaway tradition *Candlelit a la carte dinner for two including a wedding cake for the bride and groom.
